She's live!
Make Like a Mother is out in the world! The first episode with Amy Henderson is live everywhere you listen to podcasts, as well as on YouTube and Substack. Go check it out, I’ll wait!
Despite my perimenopausal inability to give any $#%ts about anything anymore, I am very proud of this project I’ve birthed into the world. (Yes a pun, not exactly intended but not unwelcome.) I am always fascinated when I hear real people talking about their lives, and this podcast is a platform for artists who are mothers to be celebrated, understood and heard. We are each so different in the ways we approach art, motherhood, and life. No two episodes are the same, just as no two women are the same. We have unique motivations and experiences, and the common thread is simply that each of the guests is a powerhouse artist you should be paying attention to.
I wanted to do a podcast so that I didn’t only share my experience of being an artist and mother, but rather to have an ongoing dialogue about it with lots of people - and this is exactly what has already been happening. People keep telling me about other women I should interview, or they tell me how much a certain guest inspires them, or they tell me they laughed out loud watching a clip that felt so relevant to their own experience. I love, love, love it.
Here’s a great photo snapped by Lee Higginson at the live episode taping on Saturday. I could have listened to Trish and Janita talk for hours!
If you listen to, watch, or read the podcast let me know what you think!
A big thank you again to my friend, podcast editor, and unofficial event coordinator Laura Kimball - without this creative mama’s support this podcast wouldn’t exist. I am surrounded by the most impressive, hilarious and intelligent mothers you could imagine, how lucky am I?
